THE STRANGE REWIND
_
IYKYK. There’s no cure for it. But therapy helps you live with it more constructively. It’s hard. You can’t make those string ends meet because they never will. It’s natural for your mind to keep wanting them to meet - it means you have humanity. Know you’re not alone. More people than you’d like to think are moving day to day with it too.
Re-remembering good, happy memories among the bad - a laugh, a photo, a smell - change shape and colour in front of your mind, different with every loop. Sometimes those feelings of guilt even extend to the people who hurt you. And then you feel guilty for THAT. What is that!
Good memories can still exist. Even if they sit beside the bad. They don’t cancel each other out. They just coexist in uneasy company.
Talk. Meditate. Read The Body Keeps The Score. Prioritise keeping good things going now - it helps to cancel out the shit. It helps to keep yourself interested.
